Formats

Format is the way in which something is laid out. Movie and TV shows all have different formats.

Different types of formats:

Single
Tell 1 story over the course of one video. Essentially, this format is used in films.

Serials
Tells 1 story over several episodes.

Series
This creates continuous characters and uses them to tell different stories each week. Same characters but different stories in each episode/part. For example, Big Bang Theory.


Genres 

Genres are ways of categorising films based on their themes or stories. 

Examples of genres:
  • Horror e.g. IT
  • Comedy e.g. Big Bang Theory
  • Romance e.g. La La Land
  • Rom-com e.g. Set It Up
  • Sci-fi e.g. Avatar 
  • Adventure e.g. Toy Story 4
